Y-RESCUE - Youth for Resilient Cities and Urban Environments is a European collaboration empowering young people to take the lead in building climate-resilient cities. 

We bring together youth organisations, student hubs, and civic engagement networks from across Europe to bridge the gap between knowledge and action. While many young people understand the urgency of climate change, too few are given the tools, support, and real opportunities to implement solutions. 

Y-RESCUE responds to this gap. 

We work at the intersection of: 

  • Youth empowerment 

  • Urban climate resilience 

  • Social entrepreneurship 

  • Civic participation 

Our partnership combines expertise in environmental advocacy, youth engagement, social innovation, and democratic participation. Together, we create space for young people not only to speak about climate challenges - but to design and implement solutions.

Y-RESCUE transforms climate concern into climate action. 

Across a two-year collaboration, we: 

Identify Real Urban Climate Challenges 

We map pressing urban issues such as flooding, heat islands, and resource scarcity. Through surveys, focus groups, and stakeholder consultations, young people help define the cases that matter most. 

Develop Practical Tools and Training 

We create: 

  • Toolkits for youth-led climate action 

  • Modular training programs 

  • Online educational resources 

  • Practical guides for community engagement 

All materials are designed to be hands-on, accessible, and adaptable across different urban contexts. 

Train and Empower Youth Leaders 

We run capacity-building workshops and peer-learning events where young people develop skills in: 

  • Project management 

  • Climate adaptation strategies 

  • Advocacy and stakeholder engagement 

  • Social entrepreneurship 

Participants move from theory to implementation. 

Support Youth-Led Pilot Projects 

Young teams receive mentorship and support to launch local initiatives addressing real climate challenges in their communities. These projects demonstrate how youth-driven solutions can strengthen urban resilience. 

Share Knowledge Across Europe 

Through conferences, policy briefs, publications, and public events, we amplify youth voices and share tested methods for climate resilience.
